A trip like no other, a visit to the world’s southernmost polar region provides a unique packing experience! Leave the evening gowns and dress shoes at home; packing the warm layers is the way to go! Recently, Wendy and Bruce returned from their fabulous Antarctic adventure with One Ocean Expeditions and have put together this helpful guide of packing tips and suggestions to ensure you are perfectly prepared to enjoy the once in a lifetime experience of visiting Antarctica. One Ocean supplies all outerwear jackets and pants and boots, but what you wear underneath is all up to you.
Packing List:
- Merino wool long johns, top and socks
- Neck warmer, toque, ski gloves, scarf
- Fleece pants and top
- Thinner under layers
- Comfortable daily wear (for time spent on ship)
- Ski goggles, sunglasses
- Compression socks for the plane
- Ankle high inserts (e.g. at Mark’s Work Wearhouse)
- Slip on shoes/runners (easy to get on and off when back on ship)
- Bathing suit (for the polar plunge pool and sauna on ship)
- Sunscreen (minimum SPF 30)
- Reading material (for days at sea)
- Seasickness medication (Scopolamine patches, Dramamine, Ginger candies)
- Camera (there are online guides for buying a suitable camera/lens for best capturing wildlife shots)
- Binoculars
- Waterproof back/day pack for all items taken on Zodiac
- Smartphone Lanyard (to keep your smartphone handy and easily accessible)
- Iphone gloves (to easily use your iPhone without taking gloves off – saving your fingers from the freezing temps!)
- Power converters (for charging your electronics in Argentina and on ship (European converter needed on One Ocean))
- Adult diapers*
