Biography

With a background in Telecommunications and Electronic Commerce Bruce initially assisted his wife to negotiate contracts and advise on the strategic direction of the company with the introduction of the internet and accompanying technology. Today Bruce drives the growth of the Company. Over the past 20 years Bruce has successfully purchased a dozen other agencies including a new Short-term Vacation Rental Business.  He is however most proud of the success of the company; he attributes that to four things: our amazing people, our business model, our relationships, and our belief in giving back to our community.

We believe in surrounding ourselves with good people, all of our full-time consultants have travelled the world and have a minimum of 20 years consulting experience.  They love what they do and it shows, they can give you sound advice or assurance on what you have chosen and ultimately assist you in making things happen.

We believe that the best utilization of our people assets is to have them deal with people that appreciate and value their advice, as such over 70% of our new clients are introduced by our current clients, and we have a very happy team.  Our clients look forward to our advice and recommendations, but above all their love of adventure and travel inspire our people. Other than our significant events experiences (mainly family groups and/or milestone birthday celebrations) we tend to focus on small ships and private tours. We believe travel experience is enhanced when you are doing what you want to do and not what others think you should be doing.

Other than 66 years of business relationships we enjoy charter membership with the world’s largest Travel Consortium, Ensemble Travel. Through Ensemble we leverage a multi-billion dollar buying power and have access to over 120 local guides in countries worldwide. This enables us to arrange private tours of sites not open to the public or get you in through the back door or to the front of the line of popular tourist sites. If something needs doing, we know who to contact, and more importantly those contacts know us. We are also licensed by the Government of British Columbia, one of only three provinces that regulate Travel Agencies. By law our people must have their insurance license and due to our Travel Assurance fund your investment in travel is protected against default, fraud, or any other reason that your paid for trip is not delivered.

Following some very sage advice from Peter Legge in the late 80’s Bruce and Wendy are also very active in the community. Bruce started with the United Way Lower Mainland and in the South Delta Community cofounded the South Delta Basketball Association. Wendy was the first female President of Arbutus Rotary Club. Bruce has served a ten-year term with the Delta Hospital Foundation and  three terms with the Travel Advisory Board for Consumer Protection BC. Today Bruce is active with Ocean Wise and supports other organizations realize their fundraising potential by looking as much inward as to the communities they serve.

Over and above everything else Bruce and Wendy take ownership of our peoples consulting, if something is wrong, we own it, we fix it.

On a personal note Bruce is most proud of his children and grandchildren and  his commitment of one full year of training to complete IRONMAN in 2010. Married to a Travel Agent Bruce has benefited from many years of portering his wife (and families) luggage. He is keen to break 80 for a second time on the golf course and can be found regularly on the farm roads in South Delta on one of his many bicycles. His favourite place to travel is the next destination, and his favourite wine is the next glass, oh and he is the cook in the family.
