Bike Ride for Cancer, Day 1: Langley to Hope

A beautiful start the the Cancer Ride for Delta Hospital.  We got started from Langley this past Tuesday morning, July 8. We crossed the Golden Ears Bridge and started out on the north side on the Fraser River along Highway 7.

We had a pretty good tailwind and once we passed through Mission the wind increased. The temperature hit 28 degrees, or so we were told, and the problem with a solid tailwind is that you don’t feel any breeze at all as a bike speed of 35k is offset by a tailwind speed of 35k, needless to say we supported many local merchants as we purchased plenty of liquids.

The north side of the Fraser valley is certainly a beautiful and slower paced community.

We arrived in the RV campsite  6 and 1/2 hours after our departure from Langley.

Dinner was a great pasta and now it’s time to get some sleep and rest up before tackling the huge climbs out of Hope as we head for Manning Park.
