Our four favourite spots to see the Northern Lights

Always wanted to see nature’s magnificence light show, but not sure where to go?  Here are our favourite luxury hotels – with gorgeous backdrops, stunning architecture and unique offerings.  Which one will you choose?

Iniakuk Wilderness Lodge, USA

This family owned fly-in lodge, is perfect for viewing all the colours of the Aurora Borealis.  Iniakuk Wilderness Lodge is situated in the Brooks Range, where the lights are often very active, you are far from civilization and 60 miles above the Arctic circle.  Enjoy personalized dog sledding tours, handcrafted lodgings and wilderness views, making this an iconic Alaskan experience.

Ion Adventure Hotel, Iceland

With the numbers of Icelandic tourists rising, you will be wishing for a quiet spot to enjoy everything the lights have to offer.  Ion Adventure Hotel, an hour away from Reykjavik, has everything you could ever want in an Icelandic vacation.    With an award-winning restaurant and bar, a warm outdoor pool, relaxing spa services and a beautiful backdrop of the mountains, this is one hotel you’ll never want to leave.

Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, Finland

Kakslauttanen is a beautiful resort, located in Finnish Lapland.  If you’re looking for a special experience, whether it be a winter wedding, luxury snowboarding vacation or an adventurous winter escape, you can do it all here!  The range of accommodation is sure to tick all your boxes – from glass igloos, to log cabins and even a traditional almost century-old house.  With so many options on hand, you know that your Aurora viewing experience will be truly magical.

Blachford Lake Lodge, Canada

There are no roads leading to Blachford Lake Lodge, meaning that this private oasis is only accessed by bush plane.  Stay in one of their traditional log cabins, take a soak in the hot tub, join an igloo building workshop and taste fresh Canadian produce.  The Northern Lights flicker straight above Blachford, so this is perhaps the most idyllic setting for Aurora Viewing in Canada.  For more information on Blachford and a visit to Yellowknife, please see our previous blog on Yellowknife Adventures – Top Tips & Tricks.
