  1. See the Temple of Batukaru

Also called “Mother Temple”, this is the largest temple in Bali. It’s the most important place of worship on the island. The temple is surrounded by rich forestland and ancient structures dusted with green moss.   

  1. Traditional Salt Making  

Participate in or watch this age-old Balinese tradition. It starts with collecting seawater with double-bucket shoulder poles. Then, dry, stomp, and work it into salt. 

  1. Markets inUbudand Candi Kuning  

Browse the stalls piled high with vegetables, tropical fruits, exotic spices. Smell luscious flowers and fragrant herbs. Visitors love the vibrant colours and packed market stalls. 

  1. Museum PuriLukisan 

This is one of the most attractive painting museums. Opened in 1956, it is meant to preserve and exhibit rich traditional and modern Balinese art. Check their website for current exhibits.  

  1. Traditional Balinese Healing Ceremonies 

Many tour packages may offer a traditional healing ceremony. Enjoy herbal medicine, massages, or energy work from a dukun/shaman.  

  1. Soak in a holy bath at TirtaEmpul 

Just like it sounds! The Melukat bathing ritual is designed to cleanse your body and soul. It’s is a favourite of visitors and locals alike. You can also spot the sacred banyan tree growing nearby.   

  1. Cycle the UNESCO-protectedJatiluwihRice Terraces  

Take in the rural sights, including rice terrace landscapes, with a set-you-own-pace bicycle tour. These are located at the foot of Mount Batukaru in the village of Jatiluwih of Tabanan Regency.   

  1. Visit the artist village in Ubud 

This is one of the most pristine areas on the island of Bali. You can hire a Bali bus to take you here. Or, choose a vacation package that includes transportation to and from Ubud.

Drive to the pier at Pemuteran for a short boat ride to Menjangan Island. Here, you can snorkel over magnificent underwater vistas. You’ll see coral reef gardens, electric clams, scorpionfish, starfish, and eels.
